Movie Title: Regarding Henry Regarding Henry is available for streaming or downloading. |
Despite being less well known, “Regarding Henry” is one of Harrison Ford’s best works. The film demands a wide spectrum from this tall actor and he delivers convincingly. For the most piece, the other performers occupy their cue from Ford’s “Henry” and render a advance perfect study of a life that could have been.
The tile character, Henry Turner, is introduced to us as a top-flight litigator for a great Novel York just firm. He is well groomed, dressed in a designer suit and he is seen speaking sincerely to a jury about human desires and justice. Our conception of him changes as soon as Henry leaves the court. He hastily makes a call to his interior designer to berate her for having the corrupt table delivered to his palatial home. He is unprejudiced another lawyer, after all.
It is hard to discover this movie at the begin. Henry is one of those men we all worship to disapprove. He is selfish, self centered, successful and confident. His daughter is disquieted of him and his wife is a pale reflection of him. Luckily we are not forced to sight this Henry for very long. He makes the classic movie exit and “goes out for some cigarettes.”

What follows is a scene that is perfectly directed. Henry walks into a corner store demanding his price of cigarettes, unaware that the other patron is robbing the owner. Henry does not become haunted but before he can even attempt to control the location, he is lying on the sidewalk with two bullets inside his body and the roar of approaching sirens in the background. This event is the cusp of Henry’s life.
Annette Bening plays Henry’s Wife, Sarah. She may not be in fancy with her husband anymore but she needs him. As her financial station becomes determined, she realizes she needs him very grand. But she is not unaffected by it all. This is the man in her life, the father of her child, a top-notch provider and protector. Seeing him lying motionless in a hospital bed, drooling and staring vacantly, is probably the most painful thing she has ever experienced. But there is some hope of recovery.
Henry’s long rejuvenation at a specialty medical center is like a rebirth. He remembers nothing, coming into his unusual world without the power of speech or the ability to plod. His midwife/physiotherapist, Bradley, is extraordinary. He is fleshy of life, energy and enthusiasm. As Henry is taught to wobble and impart and function, Bradely becomes the mainstay of his life. Sarah keeps her distance and Henry doesn’t glean to perceive his daughter, (Rachel), at all until the day he is deemed fit to go home, a scary separation from the only people he trusts.

But the Henry that returns to a home he barely remembers, is not the same man that left for cigarettes. He is a slight worried, very quiet, forgiving, gentle and above all, nice. His transformation is interpreted in different ways by different groups. The movie serves as an absorbing depiction of how society views disabilities. His boss is patronizing, his daughter pleased, his mistress is distraught and for the longest time, Sarah doesn’t know what to feel.
The ending may be predictable but in this case, it is the straggle that we savor. Most of us feel we have lost our innocence and that our honor has been a puny tarnished by life’s decisions. Henry takes us on a swagger to stare what might happen if we surrendered all the hard won prizes in our life and instead, chose to embrace life itself. This is a film that will compose you feel. Some days, that’s unprejudiced what we need.
A prominent, but stony-hearted lawyer is an innocent standbyer in a liquor store fill up and gets shot in the head. The scene is unforgettable and will pause with you long after you’ve seen the film. He’s insecure and doesn’t quite realize he’s been hit, then you glimpse this cramped slither of blood trickling from his forehead… next scene, he’s in the hospital suffering from amnesia.
Far from being a love-tap to the noggin, Henry must go through months of agonizing physical therapy to re-learn how to talk and assume straight again. While his memory comes help in little slight pieces, he mostly remembers nothing of his past life and is re-introduced to his wife and daughter, who ironically enough, were already strangers to him before he was shot.
Along with the capable memories, the previous emotional baggage has been erased as well and Henry finds himself falling in esteem with his wife all over again, and falling in treasure with the daughter he never appreciated. He becomes valorous and fun-loving and must face the person he feeble to be as he realizes that even though he has changed, others are treating him like the mature, short-tempered Henry. The film says a lot to the viewer emotionally. We either enjoy on to the things we despise, yet are comfortable with, or we abandon the garbage and inaugurate our lives with a novel perspective, letting those who decide to scoff us sluff off like barnacles.
Too many people simply go through life, plodding along, going through the motions and never really live and appreciate the indispensable things that life has too offer. The film makes you mediate… you can originate off with life a-new, without the abet of a bullet if you’re so sure. This is a sweet family film that I highly recommend.

I’d like to launch this review with my pre-viewing expectations – - ZILCH! I had never heard of this movie, had not viewed the trailer or read the box, I objective sat down on my sofa as my husband pressed “play” on the remote and jumped legal in with both feet. The first few minutes made me squirm, I was thinking “oh no, a movie glorifying drugs, with lots of F-words and thick accents”, but the narration of the main character, Effect Renton, was intellectually stimulating, so I listened more closely and allowed myself to become immersed in the myth. The characters in this account are ghastly, heroin-addicted losers, but they are portrayed as very true people – - yes, they are unpleasant, but they are not wicked. Their lives are extremely grim and grisly. I’ve always wondered how people addicted to heroin can live their lives thinking they are living normally, and the addiction is so remarkable it renders them powerless to live any other contrivance, but then I realized almost anything can be considered an addiction – - we all wrestle with something, be it our weight, our ethics, our punctuality, etc.. Moments when we convince ourselves it will be the last time, until the next time.
The film makes some entertaining comparisons between a “normal” life, and the crooked lives of these characters. You peer petite hypocrisies, such as the friend in the pub railing against drug utilize, while he obviously has an alcohol and an anger-management spot. This film also addresses the issues of loyalty, culture, politics – - with some scathing commentary on consumerism and capitalism – - and some digs at the “Unbiased Say No” and “Determine Life” rallying cries. I particularly liked the ending – - there were no sweeping revelations for the characters, they remained right to their weaknesses, moral to their characters.
There are plenty of unlit, sick moments, and there are some very humorous moments, even through the darkness, and the wit of each character is wonderful. Some of the most imaginative sequences I enjoyed immensely, but felt as though they could’ve done without the extremism and peaceful kept a gracious flowing legend. Serene, they certainly made a strong point in the scene animated the most disgusting toilet in Scotland. As for the dialogue, I am going to have to gaze it again, fair to invent positive I caught it all. My husband and I finally admitted we weren’t idea the dialogue as fully as we would’ve liked, so we switched to the “hearing-impaired” sub-titles about 30 minutes into the film. The Scottish accents are the thickest!

The acting is terrific, across the board. I was horrified – - honest flabbergasted! – - as the film ended and I saw Ewan McGregor was Designate Renton! He looked so gaunt and ill, not the charming and lovely Ewan McGregor of ‘Moulin Rouge’!
Definitely not a movie for the kids, ‘Trainspotting’ is a film everyone should peep once, even if the topic is unsettling. Plus, I give it extra stars for utilizing my accepted descriptive noun – - “wanker”. I also appreciated the integration of Iggy Pop’s song “Lust for Life”, incandescent that it was written after Iggy had kicked his heroin habit and had a newfound lust for life. I’m objective ecstatic to hear that song traditional anywhere other than car commercials!
Is the rhetorical interrogate asked by Renton (Ewan McGregor) early on in the movie. That sums up the complete possess that heroin exerts on the lives of main characters of the movie and the horrendous consequences of this addiction.
I have heard that Trainspotting has been criticized as glorifing drugs. People making this comment must be out of their minds. I have never seen such a great indictment of heroin and its effects and I ever had any inclination to try the stuff then a single viewing of the movie cured me forever.

Most movies that I peer leave no lasting impression on me but many of the scenes in Trainspotting will end with me for a very long time. There are moments that obtain you laugh out loud (Spud’s job interview for example) and others that are some of the most mighty and disturbing film images that I have ever seen.
Danny Boyle and co. have do a marvellous job of making a film about staunch people and valid lives while making it compelling viewing at the same time. The soundtrack is valid fair to round off the experience.

Movie Title: Angel – Season Five Angel – Season Five is available for streaming or downloading. |
This six Disk DVD Spot is wonderful. The Record and Sound quality are so very advantageous that you feel as though you are watching it in a theater. The closed captioning and Audio approach in other languages besides English. It’s spot packed with all sorts of extra bonus specials. The Shimmering creator, Joss Whedon and other staff members are at their very best, impartial as they were with their work on Buffy (which is also a must enjoy) . I not only highly recommend this Season disk state, but the other four seasons as well. Quite a bit of quality work went into the making of all five seasons. They are a notable seize for any Angel fan! It’s completely impossible to be anything but extremely contented with this pick as well as the rest of the series. The writing, acting, directing, etc… are astounding per usual. This is without inquire of once again feature film quality.
The fact that all but the first season is filmed in Letter Box gives it that theater feel. In addition, the closed-captioning is less likely to interfere with the record. David Boreanaz (Angel) and James Marsters (Spike) are sparkling in their performances together as well as with other cast members. I must credit Alexis Denisof (Wes), Andy Hallet (Lorne) and Amy Acker (Fred and Illyria) gives a astounding performance playing two different characters. Joss Whedon comes through once again. I not only highly recommend this Season disk status, but the other four seasons as well, for Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) was wonderful in her portrayal of the suited Cordy, seen in many different incarnations throughout the years. She is sincerely missed in season five. Lucky for us she returns for the 100th episode titled “You’re Welcome” when she comes benefit to wrap up her tale line. She never looked more magnificent and did some of her finest work in that one present. Any upright Angel fan must complete their space with this one. It’s a keeper folks. Occupy this before it gets sold out and you miss your chance to finalize your collection. ORDER IMMEDIATELY OR I PROMISE YOU WILL BE VERY SORRY.

Warning: Many, many spoilers!
All sterling things must reach to an kill, and unfortunately with Season Five of ANGEL we saw not only the waste of one of the gargantuan series that TV has produced, but the waste of Joss Whedon’s Slayerverse. With Whedon’s current announcement that he was closing Mutant Enemy’s offices and that he does not intend to do another television explain in the foreseeable future, this truly is the extinguish of an era. At least we have 144 episodes of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and 110 episodes of ANGEL to remember these great artistic creations by. And meanwhile we can all hope that Joss will reconsider and settle that he does have another spot of stories to voice.

After very nearly getting cancelled at the extinguish of Season Four, the WB renewed ANGEL with the opinion that the note would try to travel more towards a format where each episode stood alone (though they did manage to sneak in some titanic storylines along the plan) as well as bringing James Marster’s Spike over from BUFFY to try and bring some of that audience over. Artistically, Season Five is a enormous rebound from the disappointing Season Four, with a astronomical number of resplendent individual episodes, a number of repulsive dwelling developments, and some grand storylines. I never did feel completely at ease with Angel and Co. taking over the running of the imperfect law firm of hell, Wolfram and Hart, but despite that they managed to do some fantastic things. One reason I didn’t like the Wolfram and Hart connection was the presence of the specially treated pane glass windows, which allowed vampires Angel, Spike, and Harmony to bask in sunlight without terror of combustion. But ANGEL was metaphorically always about being in the shadows, and I felt that visually the demonstrate didn’t work as well in the light. But this was one of my only complaints with the season. The other was that some of the characters didn’t receive quite the attention that they deserved. Even Angel moved somewhat out of the center at the beginning of the season, as Spike was brought in and established as a central character, though by mid-season he clearly was once again the star of the reveal. Wesley, who I always found to be the most intelligent character on the prove, was far less crucial to the station for most of the season. Gunn for the most section was relegated to bit parts, while Lorne had almost no role to play at all. On the other hand, Fred became far more famous, of which more in a second. Harmony, always a secondary character on BUFFY, became a permanent cast member and managed to inject some funny relief as Angel’s secretary, though they didn’t have time to blend her fully into the mix. After the initial jar of seeing Spike in L.A. rather than Sunnydale, he managed to become a mountainous addition to the exhibit, and one of the sizable regrets of the failure of ANGEL to score renewed for Season Six was the incredible team that he and ANGEL made by season’s extinguish.
The season saw a ample number of worthy individual episodes. One of my favorites was “Lineage,” where Wesley managed to confront his father (or what passes for his father) in what is one of the most sparkling scenes in the five seasons of the reveal. “Smile Time,” written by TICK creator Ben Edlund, was arguably the funniest exhibit in the history of the series, when Angel is transformed magically into a two-foot astronomical felt puppet. His assault of Spike when the latter makes fun of him and their ensuing fight is one of the big absurd moments I’ve ever seen on TV. I also enjoyed the episodes that dealt with the demise of Fred and the ascendance and development of Illyria.
Just over halfway through the season, fans of the present were tremulous beyond comprehension when one of the major and most approved characters, Fred, the geeky but fair scientist whom Angel had rescued from another dimension, died, her body being taken over by a noteworthy archaic demon Illyria. Although fans were initially angered by her demise, most posthaste came to be fascinated by the demon who took over her body, and her bizarre relationship with Wesley, Fred’s erstwhile lover, who hesitatingly helped her to live in a world she found completely alien. We know from Jeff Bell, ANGEL’s executive producer, that in Season Six they planned to have the apparently listless Fred resurrected by Willow from BUFFY, who was to appear as a guest star. In Season Five we learn that there are remnants of Fred in Illyria, and Fred was apparently going to retrieve Fred, while leaving Illyria alive, allowing Amy Acker to play a double role. The possibilities in that would have been grand. For instance, Illyria retained many of Fred’s memories, including the fact that she loved Wesley. Illyria had achieved a unusual attraction of her believe to Wesley, and one can only imagine how she would have responded to seeing Fred and Wesley together. Illyria’s attachment to Wesley led to perhaps the most absorbing moment of the entire season, when Illyria, who could manage an absolutely perfect impersonation of Fred when she needed to, asked a dying Wesley if she wanted her to “lie” to him (i.e., pretend to be Fred) . After he says, with a smile on his face, yes, she tries to comfort him by telling him that he is going to be with her very shortly. Immediately after he dies, the sorcerer who killed Wesley, regaining consciousness but not realizing that he was talking to a much demon and not a “slight girl,” tells her to catch her best shot at him. She does, and in the season’s best visual image, the “miniature girl” spins, throwing a fist at the sorcerer’s head, transforming from human to her demon beget as she throws a punch at his head, completely shattering his skull (something a mere human was not profitable of doing) .
The exhibit ended with an utterly remarkably episode entitled “Not Go Away” (which references large the Buddy Holly song later covered by both the Rolling Stones and the Grateful Tedious) . The controversial but to me very elegant and appropriate ending expressed everything that the exhibit was about. Ultimately, the series was about a man (or vampire) who had more to repent of than he would ever accumulate forgiveness for. He had, therefore, more or less devoted his entire existence to the process of atonement, which the demonstrate finally interrupts as an ongoing struggle and not a mere event. As Angel, Illyria, Spike, and a severely injured Gunn rendezvous in an alley in the midst of a heavy downpour, they catch themselves being approached by a vast group of demons, including a towering giant and a dragon. The odds peep (and possibly are) impossible, but after saying that he wants to waste the dragon, Angel says to the remnants of his team, “Let’s obtain to work.” And with those words the episode and the series abruptly ends. I can’t imagine a more perfect kill. (April 2005 addition: In a unique interview, Amy Acker says that Joss Whedon told her that Illyria at least would have survived the fight.)
The WB announced the cancellation ANGEL immediately after their 100th episode. What followed was the most astonishing campaign to keep a prove in television history. Fans undertook a spacious food drive in the show’s name, organized blood drives, mailed tens of thousands of post cards, sent cakes to the corporate offices, and even hired a billboard trick to drive around Hollywood, all to no avail. There had been hopes for some made for TV movies and recently it was rumored that the unusual head of the WB wanted to revive ANGEL for Season Six. But star David Boreanaz and other performers had gone on to other projects, and then came the snide announcement from Joss Whedon that he was not at display going to work on TV. We can hope that he might change his mind at some point in the future, but I, for one, am profoundly grateful for the two considerable shows that he gave us. Unlike THE X-FILES, which while incandescent was never able to expose a coherent or intelligible anecdote about the world it was attempting to report, BUFFY and ANGEL gave us not only a substantial station of characters and a mountainous series of narratives, but a world mythology that was rounded, complete, and convincing. Joss Whedon and his associates raised the bar of what could be done in the medium of television, and as we gawk modern shows like LOST attempting to work along the same paths, we will hopefully continue to abet in the future from his astronomical vision that started with a diminutive blonde vampire slayer and ended with a rumble in an alley.

Movie Title: Rose of Washington Square Rose of Washington Square is available for streaming or downloading. |
The history of the cinema is filled with grand movies; but more than that, there are special “moments,” from the colossal and even the not-so-great films that thanks to the magic of the movies have been preserved for all time, and now thanks to video and DVD are readily accessible for the viewing pleasure of audiences in living rooms everywhere. These movies are treasures to be cherished and savored, because they’re not simply entertainment, but time capsules in which history has in some cases been inadvertently gathered and stored for posterity. And one of the jewels in this colossal admire chest that is the cinema is “Rose of Washington Square,” a 1939 report from 20th Century Fox, filmed in radiant B&W, directed by Gregory Ratoff and starring Tyrone Power, Alice Faye and Al Jolson.
Power is Bart Clinton, a charismatic petty thief and con man whose charm and worthy looks keeps him one step ahead of the law as he moves from one scam to another. He’s not such a poor guy, but more like a salesman without a product who utilizes his natural abilities to save a buck in his pocket. Faye is Rose Sargent, a struggling vaudeville singer, teamed up with Ted Cotter (Jolson), who together have hopes and dreams of making it to the substantial time. But worlds collide when Bart and Rose meet and tumble in cherish. Ted sees Bart for what he is, but his advice to Rose falls on deaf ears, blinded as she is by her unconditional admire for a man who stands in the map of not only her success as an artist, but her happiness, as well. And in the grandest tradition of Hollywood, their tale plays out amid the excitement of that most celebrated of all avenues of aspirations, Broadway, and that town of towns, Current York.
It’s a apt tale, but with a state that’s far from novel, which in the colossal method of things doesn’t effect any disagreement. This is solid and tantalizing entertainment that affords the viewer the opportunity of seeing three bona fide stars together, and all doing what they do best. And impartial seeing them together on the conceal is a moment all it’s own; Power, Faye and Jolson, captured forever and immortalized through the magic of the motion portray. And at the time, who knew? To Darryl F. Zanuck this was no doubt honest another describe that hopefully would execute a pleasant bottom line for the studio. Did any of them have any conception what this would mean to audiences sixty years later, or what kind of legacy they were creating for future generations?

One of the best looking actors ever to grace the silver cloak, Tyrone Power had a dominating presence and commanded attention in any role he played, from light, romantic fare like “Thin Ice,” to bringing the anti-hero, “Jesse James,” to life or the swashbuckling title character in “The Heed of Zorro.” He could play a heel like Bart Clinton and beget him believable, or a guy soul searching for something better, as he did in “The Razor’s Edge.” And if there’s any doubt as to how superb an actor Power was, one only has to seek as far as his performance in “Nightmare Alley” to realize that he was so grand more than impartial another graceful face. He was the man women wanted and the one other men envied because he seemed to have it all. He did; and it showed in every character he ever created for the cloak.
Power, however, did not corner the market on talent and charisma in this film, but was matched every step of the blueprint by his absolutely beguiling co-star, Alice Faye. Glorious and gifted, Faye could reveal and clarify a song in a scheme that was nothing less than transporting. Her vocal expressions and the emotion that dances in her eyes and plays across her face while she sings created a number of those special moments in a number of films. In this one, when she sings the heart-felt “My Man” while an incognito Power (Bart’s on the lam at this point) sits huddled in the audience at the abet of the auditorium, it’ll grab you by the throat and send chills down your spine. And that is truly one of those memorable “Moments” that have made movies such an everlasting piece of our lives and culture. When Faye turns those eyes of hers, fraught with emotion, to the camera as she sings, it’s mesmerizing– a moment that will maintain you transfixed and sweep you away to another time and another residence.
Which is exactly what happens when Al Jolson takes the spotlight as Ted Cotter. Jolson was perhaps the entertainer of his time, a man who entertained millions from the footlights of the most eminent stages around the world. And what a like it is to have even portion of his act preserved here on film. Some of the songs he made celebrated, like “Rock-a-bye-Your-Baby With A Dixie Melody,” and the one that became his trademark, “Mammy,” are seamlessly integrated into this epic. Although this kind of entertainment may not be readily embraced by younger viewers– those raised on hard rock and grunge, for example– there is a magic in Jolson and his songs that defines an era, and with his new converse and magnetic personality, it is riveting to sight him now in this film.

The supporting cast includes William Frawley (Harry), Joyce Compton (Peggy), Hobart Cavanaugh (Whitey), Louis Prima (Bandleader), Horace McMahon (Irving) and Moroni Olsen (Buck) . It may not be the greatest musical– or movie– ever made, but nevertheless, “Rose of Washington Square” is a like, for all the reasons discussed here and more. It’s a film that will be enjoyed and appreciated on any number of different levels by anyone who watches it; pure entertainment, with a particular magic all it’s maintain. This one’s a keeper. It’s the magic of the movies.
This movie old to appear on television from time to time and I couldn’t wait to gaze it when I was a kid in the 1960’s. Now with this video edition, complete with deleted musical scenes, Al Jolson is a joy to study. Alice Faye and Tyrone Power were originally given this as a vehicle, and Al Jolson’s career was at a obscene point. He was thrown a bone and was given an oppourtunity to appear alongside these two other beautiful actors. When reviewers first previewed the movie they said Jolson stole the movie from the other two. The Jolson stage sequences are PURE MAGIC. When filming The Jolson Memoir in 1945, it is said Larry Parks picked up alot of Jolson’s method of putting over a song by studying this movie. Hold a sight at California Here I Reach and compare it to Parks’ distinguished version in the latter movie. When this video first came out I was amused that it was share of the Alice Faye collection. I like Alice Faye, but lets be serious. This movie is JOLSON, JOLSON, JOLSON from beginning to kill.

No Classic Holiday collection should be without this joyous yarn. It stars a devine Cary Grant,a elegant Loretta Young, and a “doubting” David Niven.
As Christmas approaches, Bishop Henry Broughm is feeling the pressure of raising money to form a Cathedral. The money is out there, a wealthy woman has volunteered to contribute what’s needed to complete the task. But…there’s a obtain….it must be done her plot..and Henry must choose whether to get and set his principles aside or decline and have no Cathedral. He is so preoccupied with this pickle that Julia, his wife feels she is losing him. Henry prays for guidance…and it arrives..in the fabricate of one natty angel…”Dudley”.

Dudley has got his work crop out for him with this asignment. Henry is a tough case. But along the contrivance of trying to tell the Bishop of the joys of life(not to mention all the hungry people the money could feed),Dudley, played by Cary Grant touches the lives of all those around him. Most of the women are simply in scare of his prescence(I would be too!),an aging history scholar(played impeccably by Monty Woolley) finds a renewed zest for life and even a cynical cab driver is reformed by the mere prescence of Dudley. But can Dudley win through to Henry in time to restore his incredible marriage to Julia? ….Can even an Angel resist the charms of Loretta Young? You’ll be smiling all the map through this touching, classic Christmas myth finding out.
The supporting cast are legends in their bear rights…As I mentioned Monty Woolley derive touched by this angel as does James Gleason, Gladys Cooper and Elsa Lanchester. It is directed by Henry Coster.
The DVD, although not as prsiteen as some other films of this era(“Casablana”, “It’s A Amazing Life”),presented a nice report of this 56 year archaic film. I concept the Shadowy and White images were appealing and certain. Not quite as intelligent as the others, but an delightful understanding none the less. The sound does need to be turned up quite a bit more than usual, but the dialouge always distinguishable and the fine music added greatly to the epic. The DVD gives the choice of “Chace Stereo” or the new mono.I viewed it in the ‘Chace’, and my DVD decoded it in Digital 1.0) .There is an origianl theatrical trailer which is actually fun to behold. And..if you judge the film transfer is not the greatest, compare it to this trailer….what a dissimilarity. It may be viewed in French and Spanish, and also has subtitles in those languages as well…but no subtitles or captions in English for those that might need them..this classic should be made for all to appreciate! For this reason alone, I am going with 4 stars(instead of 5) for the package.
A Classic Christmas myth that’s spacious to gape anytime of the year!……savor….Laurie

A Christmas Carol(astounding audio book on CD)
This genlte film, based on Robert Nathan’s magnificent fable, has the warmth of a cup of hot cider by the fireplace during a wintry December day. There is something tranquil and magical about it, like the hush of the world when it snows. Cary Grant and Loretta Young are a joy to search for together, their easy chemistry as welcome as popcorn balls and candy canes.
Directed by Henry Koster, with some nice photography from Gregg Toland, the screenplay by Robert E. Sherwood and Leonardo Bercovici captures perfectly the sentimental fantasy feel of all Robert Nathan’s aesthetic work. Cary Grant convinced producer Samuel Goldwyn to let him represent the role of Dudley rather than the bishop, and after seeing this film, it would be difficult to imagine it any other blueprint.
Cary Grant always made everything seek easy, but fair how noteworthy work went into that illusion is exemplified by this film. Before shooting began, Grant could not ice skate, play the harp, or shriek any French. By the time “The Bishop’s Wife” was finished shooting, he could do all three. It was truly an accomplishment of fine preportions. The film itself was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Characterize, and received another nomination for Best Director.
Henry Brogham (David Niven) is a newly appointed Episcopalian bishop trying to score funds for a great cathedral he wants to design. He is selling out petite by minute to the demands of Mrs. Hamilton (Gladys Cooper), who helped win him his appointment and has the money he needs to earn his dream approach fair. But he has forgotten about his wife’s happiness in his quest to originate the massive church, and when he prays for direction from God, he gets more than he bargained for.
Cary Grant is the Angel, Dudley, who’s been sent to befriend out. Cars cessation for him and he knows the name of everyone he meets before they shriek him. Dudley is unruffled and charming, and very attractive. He has an easy procedure about him that makes everyone ecstatic. Henry’s maid, Matilda (Elsa Lanchester), is taken with him and he has a gentle carry out on everyone he comes in contact with. Henry is not as overjoyed about Dudley, however, since one of those people is his neglected wife, Julia (Loretta Young) .
Young looks dazzling framed by Gregg Toland’s soft focus photography, and is genuine as the sweet woman who misses the time Henry spent with she and their daughter, Debby (Karolyn Grimes), before he obtained his appointment. Dudley and Julia initiate to like the diminutive and astonishing things a couple in care for should fraction together, while Henry continues to fret over the cathedral. Henry has forgotten that he prayed for guidance, not a stout church.
It is snowing all through this film, and there are many sweet moments between Dudley and Julia. Fair the simple pleasure of a slouch down the street and having lunch at a familiar location are given relieve to Julia, as she is made to feel appreciated again. She finally splurges and buys the hat she’s been staring at through the shop window for weeks. It is a moment of self-worth, restored by Dudley’s attention. There is a magical ice-skating scene as Dudley makes it possible for Julia to skim like an conventional hand over the ice.
There is humor as well, Dudley making Debby’s snowballs hit their label. He also gives Sylvester (James Gleason), the cab driver, the ability to skate. Dudley explains to Julia that the only people who grow broken-down are those who are born musty, but if you are born young, you will quit that device. Dudley and Julia restore Sylvester’s faith in people.
Dudley’s gentle finish on people, however, is not minute to Julia. His visit to Mrs. Hamilton will teach a secret fancy from her past and change her plans for Henry’s cathedral. His visit with Julia’s friend, Professor Wutheridge (Monty Woolley), will inspire him to write his book and understand what he could not before. And all the time he is spending with Julia and Debby may earn Henry wrathful enough to realize what is really valuable, if it is not too behind.
There is a tender charm to this heartwarming classic. You will derive yourself smiling a lot while watching it. Some nice music by Hugo Friedhofer and the Mitchell Boychoir add to a very special atmosphere. “The Bishop’s Wife” is a reminder that it is people that matter, not a building, and the charity we give, should always originate at home, with those we care for. It is a amazing message we can impress all year long.

The favorable and wisdom infused series of Diamond Daydreams has finally arrive to an slay with the tales of two more women that have advance to crossroads in their lives that will either shatter them or accomplish them aspire to even greater things. First, there’s Shoko who has a radio indicate where she gives advice to listener’s emails about relationship issues. The plight is that Shoko is having problems of her have. The man she loves is married and has a kid, and due to the added pressures of his job (or so he says), he hardly ever sees her, so Shoko is getting frustrated. In addition to that, one of her fans seems to be stalking her…or trying to construct her feel better by sending her miniature gifts. The second dwelling of episodes has to do with Akari, a clumsy but kind girl working at a confectionary whose father is a alcoholic who spends most of his time drinking. If he’s not getting drunk, he’s out panning for gold in the local river. Akari is barely able to hold a roof over their heads and on top of that, a awful boy that feeble to work with her is giving her unwanted attention…well, unwanted at first. The fifth episode on the dvd wraps the series up by bringing all the characters from all 3 volumes together in one intention or another.

The thing I liked about this series was that it was always objective and didn’t have fairy chronicle endings. Even episodes that seemed like fairy tales ended with a jolting realism. All the relationships didn’t work out for everybody so there was some sadness, unprejudiced like in sincere life. But you do procure the sense that all these women will fade on and have a chance at happiness someday, if they don’t have it now. They all have prospects even though it might not behold easy. This anime will appeal to more adult viewers. It has a lot of wisdom in it. You’ll feel yourself shaking your head in agreement as you discover the point to because it’s life. Sizable display.
There are a ton of extras on this dvd. There are slack the scenes interviews with all the Japanese drawl actresses and two radio shows where they acknowledge emails in character. There are even Japanese bloopers, which is one of the first times I’ve seen that on an anime dvd before. There is also a clean travelogue that gives pictures and information of some of the true places in the anime.
The final place of episodes in this series is arguably the best, as two very different women face some daunting challenges.

Shoko is a radio dj, dispensing her hold imprint of wisdom, and music on a public that adores her. She seems to have it all together. But in reality she is interested with a married man, in a increasingly one sided relationship. As the distance grows between them, and her trials increase, our heroine is forced to request her values, and her hold legend advice.
Akari, on the other hand, is a sweet, if somewhat clumsy student who works at a local confectionery. She is also principle bread winner for her family, as she is without her mom, and her father is a drunk and only marginally successful gold digger. Her position seems intolerable, till her father’s illness is revealed. Then she has to salvage a procedure to let him go.
The final episode is quite lively, as we collect one more contemplate at what fate has sent our heroines. For some, life is a bit more normal; for some it has improved; and for one it seems a bit worse. In the raze, for all these ladies there is tranquil hope for better times and happiness, symbolized as all look diamond dust for themselves on one special afternoon.
There are certainly no simple solutions to any of these ladies ‘ problems, great like in genuine life. The fact that there is so great truth here makes the chronicle that mighty more endearing. Don’t let the diamond dust blind you, there’s a accurate yarn here, and it’s a beut.

Seen a viewing of ‘AMERICAN VIOLET’ recently.. And I had mixed emotions: upset, poor, gratified, and surprised! To be falsely accused of a crime, that you know deep in your heart you did NOT commit, is one thing… But when your so-called lawyer suggests you to pick a plea bargain, oppose to fighting for your clearance makes one wonder who can you trust… This movie, based on suitable events, is heartwrenching, as it is an eye-opener!!! I’d recommend that everyone sees this flick, even teens!!! Granted this ocurred in Melody, Texas, it’s taking status worldwide…

PS… Worthy performances by all: Nicole Beharie, Alfre Woodard, Will Patton, even Anthony Mackey!!! Applause, followed by a standing ovation!!!
Wouldn’t it be dreadful to bag yourself jailed for something you did not do, based solely on the word of a lying, mentally ill drug addict? That’s what happened to Regina Kelly in Hearne, Texas help in 2000. Ensnared in a mass arrest of suspected drug dealers at her housing project, the young single mother was charged with selling drugs in a school zone. Despite her insistence that she was innocent, her court-appointed attorney pressured her to obtain a plea bargain to avoid many years in prison and the loss of her children. With no criminal represent and no drugs found on or advance her, she refused the deal. Instead, with the assist of the American Civil Liberties Union she filed a class action lawsuit.
Although Kelly’s case was reported in a documentary by PBS’ cutting-edge Frontline assist in 2004, American Violet brings a fictionalized version to a broader, mass audience. Co-director Bill Haney (along with Tim Disney) says he heard about Kelly’s case on National Public Radio as he was driving; it so moved him that he pulled his car over to the side of the road and cried.

In this film, “Dee Roberts” (a sparkling Nicole Beharie) is the plaintiff in a class-action case over racial discrimination in drug enforcement. Tim Blake Nelson plays David Cohen, the ACLU lawyer who sues district attorney Calvin Beckett (Michael O’Keefe) on her behalf.
Kelly is quoted in the Chicago Tribune as saying the film is “90 percent lawful.” The depositions, the courtroom scene in which she fights to keep custody of her children, and many other scenes are word-for-word accounts.
Like Clint Eastwood’s Changeling, this legend of a defiant woman’s struggle against inferior law enforcement strikes a universal chord. But American Violet also addresses present-day criminal justice themes of racial profiling, coerced plea bargaining, and – most of all – wrongful convictions based on fraudulent statements by jailhouse informants.
I highly recommend this worthy movie.
For those fervent in more information on the exact case, the Web has various resources. The class-action case, Regina Kelly v. John Paschall, is discussed at the ACLU’s website. Kelly has her fill web location and a YouTube video; objective Google her name to find to those. I have also posted more information and links at 1url(dot) com/AmericanViolet.

Movie Title: Strangers When We Meet Strangers When We Meet is available for streaming or downloading. |
“Strangers When We Meet” (1960) is simply a fine movie. In this reviewer’s understanding, the acting performances from every single member of this honorable cast are lustrous — from Kirk Douglas to Kim Novak to Ernie Kovacs to Walter Matthau. They are each unprejudiced perfect here. Also support an behold peeled for Sue Ane Langdon, who pops up in a brief cameo role.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Strangers When We Meet! Click Here
And I certainly don’t want to leave out Barbara Urge, who gives a knockout portrayal of Douglas’ wife. Rush’s final emotion-filled scenes in the film are literally worth a replay every time this movie is watched.
Walter Matthau’s role in the film is fairly dinky, but much. Walter is thoroughly frightening here as an aggressively-lecherous, scheming, and oversexed neighbor, who lives unprejudiced a few doors down from Douglas.
Buy,Download, Or Stream Strangers When We Meet! Click Here
Can you imagine that — Walter Matthau being deemed “gross”? Hardly seems good, does it? But, in this flick, it applies. “Strangers” was made at a time when the then-39-year-old Matthau was playing more serious roles in the movies, and before all of his top-notch funny parts. Four years after “Strangers”, Matthau played another rather unlikable character, in 1964’s “Fail-Safe”, which was yet another fair performance by the versatile actor.
It’s also kind of amusing to price (in an “in-joke” fashion) that Matthau’s character’s name in “Strangers” is “Felix”, which is a name that would be closely associated with Walter in the film “The Curious Couple” (1968), when Matthau’s “Oscar” played opposite Jack Lemmon’s “Felix”.
Douglas and Novak are “strangers when they meet” in the supermarket one day, and they seem to have a edifying chemistry on camouflage here. I found Kim’s “Maggie” in this movie very similar in “cool” and “sullen” style to her role two years earlier in Alfred Hitchcock’s classic yarn, “Vertigo”. Both of those Novak characters seem to be forever tormented by some inner demons that can never be fully exorcised. But by the destroy of “Strangers”, Maggie has shed a enormous deal of her inner pain, with the film ending in a bittersweet — but in my thought very fitting — fashion.
“Strangers When We Meet”, I assume I’m first-rate in assuming, is one of Kirk Douglas’ lesser-known efforts during the man’s astonishing cloak career — but its relative obscurity doesn’t form the movie any less much. Douglas is 100% believable in his role here as “Larry Coe”, an architect who’s tired of the drab cookie-cutter assignments that have been served up to him. He wants to obtain a house that’s different. And that’s objective what he does in the movie.
Throughout the film, we can actually discover Larry’s uniquely-designed, multi-level house bewitch shape, bit by bit. By the film’s final reel, the project is completed, and it’s a truly graceful home, in my understanding.
Larry Coe also has a roving survey for his quite fetching and alluring neighbor (Maggie) — and despite the fact that each of them is married with young children, Larry and Maggie earn their mutual attraction to each other too considerable to resist, and they initiate a cherish affair.
The screenplay for “Strangers” was written by Evan Hunter (based on his original) . The film was directed with colossal style and sure “TLC” by Richard Quine (who also doubled as the movie’s producer) .
The setting is California, circa 1960, and Mr. Quine’s profitable employ of his pleasing “CinemaScope” widescreen (2.35:1) framing comes through with flying colors on this DVD version of the film. The movie was shot in color and the cinematography for both the outdoor and indoor scenes is rich in knowing details, which this DVD from Columbia/Sony exhibits very nicely.
There’s a scene reach the extinguish of the movie that’s unprejudiced spectacular (from a photography and lighting standpoint), with a rainbow of colors on the conceal at once — this scene taking location in Larry’s just-finished hilltop home, with the light gleaming through various tinted panes of window glass in a diagram that’s impartial simply pretty.
This adult drama, which is replete with multiple cases of infidelity, could very easily (in my thought) have been a trusty “snooze-fest” (aka: a tedious 2-hour nightmare to have to sit through) . But, instead, it’s exactly the opposite — it comes across as new and alive and racy, all the plan through its entire length of 1 hour and 57 minutes.
Director/Producer Quine and screenwriter Hunter have made these characters compelling and interesting — and fair flat-out intriguing to observe. Quine and Hunter develop us care about these people on cover, from beginning to raze. And I’m guessing that this wasn’t an easy task, given the rather heavy and somber subject matter that the film deals with.
The “suburban” feel of the early 1960s comes across very strongly in the film as well. Each frame of the movie reflects the era in which it was made — and I don’t mean that in a negative plan whatsoever; to the contrary in fact. That “feeling” for the era is something I like very powerful here. The film began playing in movie houses on Wednesday, June 29th, 1960.
I was flabbergasted when I discovered this movie was actually available on the DVD format. It had been on my “Assume When Available” list for many moons; but slipped under my radar of modern releases when Columbia/Sony streeted this runt gem on February 22, 2005. To say the least, I was most joyful when I was finally able to depraved this one off of the “To-Get” list.
This single-disc, single-sided DVD gives us the film in its intended and new 2.35:1 Widescreen video format, and it offers up a dandy-looking Anamorphic (16×9 enhanced) transfer to boot. It honest looks sizable. …. The audio on the disc comes across handsome via a 2.0 Dolby Digital Mono soundtrack. Subtitles can be accessed in either English or Japanese.
The DVD comes packaged in an Amaray-type plastic Preserve Case. There’s no Scene Selection paper insert included in the box; but there is the normal Scene Index included on the disc itself (the film is divided up into a modest number of chapters, totalling 12) .
The DVD’s Menus are quiet and non-animated, with the Main Menu (and “Scene” Menu) sporting an irregular, albeit very picturesque, concept of the skyline of Unique York City. (That’s “weird” only because the movie is not situation in Modern York, and has nothing whatever to do with that city; the film is site entirely in California. And what makes the DVD Main Menu record of NYC even more curious is the fact that it depicts the World Trade Center as section of the Fresh York skyline; the WTC wasn’t completed until more than a decade after “Strangers” was made. Oh, well, it’s composed a nice-looking Menu photo nonetheless. A part of that same Fresh York skyline relate is also ancient for the DVD’s front cover; the packaging photo is cropped, however, and lacks the World Trade Center image.)
The only “Bonus” material on the DVD are three “Previews” (Trailers) . But, unfortunately, the modern theatrical trailer for “Strangers When We Meet” is not included.
—————–
To Sum It Up………
“Strangers When We Meet” is highly recommended — both the film and this DVD. Anyone who is a fan of intelligently-written motion-picture dramas — or a fan of Kirk Douglas or the always-lovely Kim Novak — will have no choice but to care for “Strangers” (IMHO) .
If you haven’t done so already, steal “Strangers” for a plug in your DVD Player as soon as you can. It’s a 117-minute trot attend to 1960 — and it’s worth the time spent making the breeze.
After World War II movies became more frank in subject matter. This was in section due to the changing mores of the returning vets and the women they came home to. After the horrors of war things would never be the same for them or for Hollywood. The other factor was the tiresome demise over the 50’s of the studio system and the rise of television as a threat to the box office. The censors began to relax and allowed more adult themes to be presented on the gigantic camouflage. By the early 1960’s movies were well on there contrivance to growing up. Taboo subjects such as prostitution, homosexuality and adultery were now subjects Hollywood was now eagerly taking on.
One of the more racy and surprisingly un-judgmental of these films was the 1960 Colombia release, `Strangers When We Meet’. Produced by Kirk Douglas’ company Bryna Productions and Richard Quinn Productions and taken from the recent by Evan Hunter the film is a appealing sight into the suburban lives of a Los Angeles architect, his wife and the other woman in his life.
Kirk Douglas gives a stunning, understated performance as the architect Larry Coe. It is a stark disagreement to his sage Spartacus of the same year. At a foul roads in his life he is given the chance to produce the kind of house he always wanted to for upcoming novelist Ernie Kovaks while his company wants him to go on doing the same expressionless work they demand. He fights for his chance to consume the chance of a life time with the skill of a exquisite cloak actor.
As his wife, Barbara Race is outstanding in one of her finest moments on veil. She is cool and withholding yet needy of her husbands cherish. Her finest moments advance in her scenes with Douglas where they argue over their future and in her chilling confrontation with the lecherous Walter Matthau on a dusky rainy afternoon.
As Maggie Gault actress Kim Novak turns in a nuanced and deeply felt performance. She is a woman that men have been hunting down all her life. Her beauty is something that brings her only sorrow and despair though a string of meaningless affairs. Her husband seems to be the only man who has no interest in sleeping with her and though she does like him he drives her away embarrassed by her begin and unprejudiced desire for him. When Douglas says to her on their first meeting, “You’re not so comely.” it throws her and intrigues her. Throughout the affair she embarks on with Douglas she is quick-witted enough to know that this like all the others will ultimately lead nowhere. In the final frames of the film she is shown this very fact when faced with another leering man.
Kim Novak is so cold and remote at times that it seems the perfect fit for her, the role of Maggie. She is the kind of natural actress that when left alone with her instincts and the view of the camera she surprises the viewer with the gloomy emotions that live impartial beneath her pleasing features. One scene among many where she shines is when she is confronted with her past and has to affirm the truth to Douglas about it.
The cinematography is fabulous to scrutinize in the widescreen aspect of this DVD and shows the substantial talent of cinematographer, Charles Lang who also shot such classics as `Charade’ and “Some Like It Hot’ and the lovely “One-Eyed Jacks”.
The salvage by George Dunning is the perfect meeting of the romantic and dramatic. It stands along side his classic scores for “Bell, Book, and Candle”, “The World of Suzy Wong” and “Picnic.”
Jean Louis one of the top designers of costumes for actresses of the period turns in honest enough suburban glamour to hold the ladies in the cast looking astounding.
Director Richard Quinn pulls it all together with his usual style. He presents us with not only a genuine drama but also an intelligent see at the suburban life of Los Angeles in 1960. The locations are memorable, the glamorous dilapidated Romanoff’s restaurant, the lovely house that is built through the course of the film, and the elegant beach at Malibu where the lovers rendezvous. This film stands along with “Suzy Wong,” “Bell Book and Candle”, and “How to Assassinate Your Wife” as some of his best work. The film holds up after forty-five years as a current and timely inspect at the relationships between husbands and wives and lovers who are always “Strangers When We Meet.”

THE SHOW
The seventh season of this series aired in the second half of 1993. It is necessary for a number of reasons, the most clear being that it marked the raze of an era in terms of the overall tone and survey of the expose. Starting with the show’s eighth season, which aired the following year, nearly all the hallmarks of the explain – all the touchstones that made the series what it was – would be gone. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let us crash down the seventh season of the note.
The first 13 episodes of the seventh season are what fans have dubbed the “European Vacation” shows. These episodes have always been a bit of a mystery among fans, if only because, in some aspects of the fable, they seem to be out of set in the seventh season. During the first episode of the fourth season, the Turtles obtain out that they have won a vacation to Europe. So, it would stand to reason that the first leg of season four would be the Turtles’ adventures traveling across Europe. This they do; some of the storylines prefer situation in France, Greece, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, and Turkey. Along the plot, familiar characters (Shredder and Krang), and some not so familiar (Erik the Red View, a modern-day Viking), attempt various tainted schemes at taking over the world. Many theories abound as to why this fourth season storyline did not search for the light of day until the beginning of the seventh season (animation and/or scheduling problems being the most approved), but at least fans can rest easy that all of the “European Vacation” episodes have finally made it to DVD.
That being said, however, the extinguish of the “European Vacation” episodes and the “beginning” of the seventh season can be a bit jarring when viewing the shows in succession. While the aforementioned episodes accelerate parallel to the themes, tone and overall eye of the expose during its third and fourth seasons, the remaining 14 episodes designate a stark disagreement to them.
By the time 1993 rolled around, Saturday morning cartoons were changing. Light and fluffy were out; sad and edgy were in. The “beginning” of the seventh season (after the “European Vacation” episodes) marked a trial accelerate into this territory. Episodes were a bit darker in theme than they had been in seasons past, but not so mighty that what made the present tall in the first station – humor, pizza references, and terrific characters – was lost. It wasn’t until the eighth season that the reveal went whole hog and introduced a completely revamped (darker and edgier) premise, virtually dropping everything fans had arrive to know and admire about the series.
The first foray in this experiment was “Night of the Shaded Turtle,” a incredible episode that sees Donatello temporarily seek a darker side to his personality. Everything about this episode works: terrific humor, mountainous action sequences, outstanding animation, and rocking background music. “Night of the Shadowy Turtle” is not only a highlight of the seventh season, but it represents one of the best episodes of the entire series.
Something that is not a highlight, however, is the loss of James Avery (“Recent Prince of Bel Air”) halfway through the season as the utter of Shredder. From the beginning of the series, James Avery managed to compose Shredder a three-dimensional character, as opposed to a run-of-the-mill, one-note, cardboard cutout that most villains on cartoons encapsulate. Shredder could be scary, for certain, as a typical abominable guy; but he could also be quite hilarious, and Avery breathed worthy life into the role. Many fans understanding Shredder and Krang as a married couple because of the amount of bickering they do with each other. The improvisations that both actors brought to their roles created lasting characters that fans loved, even though they were villains. After Avery left the reveal for reasons unknown, the advise actor who replaced him did absolutely nothing with the Shredder role except to play it as a stereotypical, one-dimensional awful guy. To say that James Avery was missed as the seventh season came to a cessation is a titanic understatement.
THE DVD SET
To celebrate the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 25th anniversary (somehow, Young Adult Mutant Ninja Turtles doesn’t have quite the same ring to it), Lionsgate has decided to do something a petite different with the release of the seventh season. It has been broken up into four parts, or slices, and each Turtle has one. When combined the four slices fit together to develop one scene on your DVD shelf.
But the surprises don’t close there. Each DVD cut will also include an novel Ninja Turtles toy from Playmates, the toy company that produced the classic Turtle toys all through the show’s speed. I may not always like the DVD releases Lionsgate comes up with for this exhibit, but the fact that they have pulled out some major stops to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary is commendable and has me eagerly anticipating May 12, 2009.
THE SPECIFICATIONS
Amazon.com has not listed this, so here at the specifications for each gash in the DVD region. These are subject to change before May 12, so pick them for what they are.

Side note: only the most die-hard of fans will peek this, but it is worth pointing out: in the recent cartoon series, the Turtle with the orange bandana was always known as Michaelangelo. When the novel cartoon aired in 2003, the spelling was changed to Michelangelo. It looks like Lionsgate has decided to go with the second spelling of Mikey’s name for this DVD state. Even though I secure this annoying, it’s a minor quibble.
Good for any hardcore TMNT fan such as myself, because of the collector boxes and mini figures. But now they have released it in a simple box instead of these 4 different ones that are at plot more the mark than objective the one place of season 7 that they have unprejudiced near out with. Basically if you are a hardcore TMNT fan, and you want your collection simply to peep helpful and pay some more, then this is for you, if not, assign money, time, and shelf location and purchase the simple season 7 one that isn’t in 4 titanic boxes.

Cirque Du Soleil – Corteo Movie Streaming.
Movie Title: Cirque Du Soleil – Corteo Cirque Du Soleil – Corteo is available for streaming or downloading. |
Any Cirque display is best seen live but owning the DVD also shows you more than the exhibit did. The film version was shot over 2 different shows on the same day and all the closeup shots done without an audience to protect both the performers and audience. Because of these shots, the film is able to give more depth to the anecdote and helps to add to the site itself. The reveal is in a word “stunning” (or “lovely”) due to the simply vintage costumes and complicated space which transports you to these different memories and the reality going on stage. Corteo includes all the “normal” Cirque themes about hope, humanity, life, and image juxtaposition. This explain is in no plan scary for children at all as anything contemptible, demonic, or even a “freak expose” is severly lacking.

The music itself is in it’s gain category by Cirque standards. It is less operatic (1 male and female singer are seen once in awhile, but rarely) but is more mystical, “Godfather”-esque, classical music, classical guitar, gorgeous choir, and an organ attend to effect up the glean. The CD release has been pushed serve until later this year. Porque?
The DVD “extras” include an Intimate Theatre share not included in the edited play accelerate time but is included in the live expose, “A Day in the Life of Corteo Artists” follows an acrobatic couple from Corteo on their average explain day, “Filming Corteo” includes all of the information included above about filming, and a “Creating Corteo” which resembles an HBO late the scenes creation process and character explaination in 25 minutes. The only problems that I found with the DVD itself was in the menu bustle times – they’re shorter than 5 seconds of animation and a single sound clip from the music. It can become annoying if you leave the room for a cramped. There is also no closed caption or subtitle feature – so you better know your Italian if you want to know what The Lifeless Clown is saying!
I am a gargantuan Cirque Du Soleil fan. I have seen almost every touring indicate live with the acception of SALTIMBANCO, and have seen every resident expose acept “O”, ZUMANITY, and their newest resident present “The Beatles Adore”. I have fair about every CD and DVD, so when I learned that they were coming out with a DVD of their latest touring point to CORTEO I bought it factual away. The filming itself in HD makes the experience all the more accurate and like your there seeing it live. Unfortunatlly, I was suprisingly not awed by the demonstrate. There are some acts that did amaze me, but the majority of the display didn’t have the usual Cirque amazement to it. I was disapointed when I finished watching the DVD, I’m not saying that I disliked it, fair that I have seen live (and bought the DVD) of other Cirque shows where I’m left in amazement and not wanting the prove to waste. For CORTEO it was the oposite, I found myself wondering when it would be over.

Perhaps I am being a bit harsh in my critique, that is probably due to the fact that I am a long time Cirque fan and have seen better. I will admit that I have not seen CORTEO live yet due to the fact that it hasen’t approach to Boston (but will be towards the demolish of the summer) .
This is a incredible kids prove, I found most of the acts fascinating to the “novel” Cirque Du Soleil fan. By that I mean, as mentioned before I am a long time Cirque fan and have seen better shows. However, I reflect that someone impartial discovering Cirque Du Soleil will savor CORTEO, for you modern fans I highly and strongly recomend looking at VAREKAI, ALEGRIA, QUIDAM and DRALION.
The music is also unlike any other music from Cirque shows. I did not hate the music, yet on the other hand I did not luxuriate in it as great as I have for other Cirque shows. I do not know if I will select the CD when it comes out which is change since I ususally cannot wait for the soundtrack to near out.
But I say try it, if you have seen it live then select the DVD and remember what it was like to contemplate live under the great top.
However, if you are expecting to perceive something equal to VAREKAI ALEGRIA,QUIDAM and DRALION, I would recomend not buying CORTEO. Vintage Cirque Du Soleil is VAREKAI, ALEGRIA, QUIDAM, and DRALION. I do not know what path Cirque is trying to prefer, but I hope its not the path of CORTEO otherwise fans of the shows mentioned above will be disapointed.
Cirque Du Soleil took a mountainous step forward in changing its idenity with their resident reveal KA (which I was fortunate to examine and loved every second of) in Las Vegas. They took a microscopic step backwards with CORTEO, but as a long time fan I am not at all about to give up on them, I know they will voice a unique touring present in the year(s) to arrive and it will be encourage up to their potential.
